Eric Hovde: It’s ‘Unimaginable’ That Tammy Baldwin Supported Iran Deal

Businessman Eric Hovde, talking like a candidate, said Wednesday night that it’s “unimaginable” that U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) supported Obama’s Iran nuclear deal.

Hovde, a conservative, has said he’s considering getting into the race against Baldwin.

“Iran would like to destroy our country. They are the biggest supporter of global terrorism,” Hovde said to WRN. “They never complied with the requirements of the deal. Money flowed quickly to multiple terrorist groups and the deal blew up in their face. It is unimaginable to think Pres. Biden and Sen. Baldwin supported this second deal.”

At the time, Baldwin said she was “proud” to support the Iran deal. “I’m proud that America led six countries toward an historic international agreement with Iran. I believe we are right to choose a path of international diplomacy…” she said in a press release at the time.

As we previously reported, Baldwin has a history of appeasement against Iran; in addition to supporting Obama’s deal, she previously opposed sanctions against Iran.

Baldwin also has a history of taking stances that are not supportive of Israel, including voting against a 2019 act that would have given Israel security assistance. Read about her past history on Israel here.

Baldwin is now trying to remake herself as tough on Iran and Israel in the wake of the Hamas terrorist attacks.

The Heritage Foundation recently wrote on the Iran deal, “The truth is the Democrats’ Iran policy has been shaped by a foreign influence campaign—the Iran Experts Initiative (IEI)—waged from within by Iran itself.”

According to NBC News, the Obama deal “offered Tehran billions of dollars in sanctions relief.”

According to Tablet Magazine, what did the Iran Deal really do? “Barack Obama legalized a terror state’s nuclear weapons program.” Tablet excoriated the “tens of billions of dollars that Obama paid the clerical regime, which included planeloads of cash.”

In 2018, when then President Donald Trump terminated the Iran deal, he said it “enriched the Iranian regime and enabled its malign behavior, while at best delaying its ability to pursue nuclear weapons and allowing it to preserve nuclear research and development.”
