River Falls, WI — Representative Shannon Zimmerman (R–River Falls) and Senator Rob Stafsholt (R–New Richmond) recognized Hudson Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Dabruzzi as the 2025 First Responder of the Year during the October 14 floor session at the State Capitol.
The First Responder of the Year ceremony “is held once each legislative session, providing an opportunity for every Assembly district to nominate a police officer, firefighter, or EMS professional (paid or volunteer) within their district,” they said in a press release.

“Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Dabruzzi was recognized for 46 years of extraordinary and faithful service to the Hudson Fire Department, exemplifying an unwavering commitment to his community. His calm and easygoing demeanor, sharp sense of humor, and steady, decisive leadership under pressure have earned him deep respect from colleagues and community members alike,” they wrote.
Following the presentation, Representative Zimmerman and Senator Stafsholt released the following statements:
“Our first responders are some of the best among us and deserve to be honored for their service in their communities,” said Zimmerman. “Jeff has dedicated his life, regardless of the hour, to keeping the people of Hudson safe. Hudson is lucky to have a man of Dabruzzi’s character in their service. Thank you and congratulations, Jeff!”
Senator Stafsholt commented, “I was honored to shake Jeff’s hand and thank him for his 46 years of service to the people of Hudson in the Fire Department. Our communities rely on people like Jeff to step up and dedicate their lives to serving the public and sacrificing for their fellow citizens.”
