‘Wait to See What’s Coming’: Tom Homan Makes Jaw-Dropping Comment About Gov. Tony Evers

Tom Homan

Gov. Tony Evers responded in a video after accusing Homan of apparently threatening to arrest him.

Border Czar Tom Homan made a jaw-dropping comment when asked about Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and ICE.

“The president signed an executive order this week threatening to defund sanctuary cities. Why not just arrest the leaders who are harboring and shielding illegal aliens, actual terrorists, from deportation,” Homan was asked as he spoke with reporters.

“Wait to see what’s coming,” Homan responded on May 1, 2025.

“Your comments on the Wisconsin governor sending directives to the state agencies to not comply with ICE, actually stop your deportation efforts?” he was asked.

“Wait to see what’s coming,” Homan repeated. “I meant what I said. You can not support what we’re doing, and you can support sanctuary cities if that’s what you want to do. But if you cross that line into impede or knowingly harbor or conceal an illegal alien that is a felony, and we will treat it as such.”

After Homan’s comment, Evers released an extraordinary video. “Yesterday, a top Trump Administration official made an apparent threat to arrest me,” he wrote on X, sharing the video below:

The directives being discussed refer to a memo issued by Evers’ administration to state workers. The directive was first reported by WISN 1130-AM host Dan O’Donnell.

Homan is the former Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director and current border czar.

Gov. Tony Evers and the state Department of Administration sent the memo asking state employees not to answer questions from federal agents, give access to systems or information, and to call the state Office of Legal Counsel if approached.

The memo says, “Do NOT do any of the following: Do not answer questions, including when an agent asks about someone you know or presents a warrant with an individual name. Do not give the agent access to any paper files or computer systems without speaking to your attorney, including when the agent presents a warrant. Do not give your consent for the agent to enter into a non public area. The agent must have a judicial warrant to do this, and your attorney will advise you on what areas are covered by a warrant. Examples of public areas include reception, waiting areas and lobbies, restrooms available to the public, and other common areas accessible by members of the public without screening or escort.”

This week, Wisconsin Assembly Republicans sent a letter to Evers requesting that he rescind his memo:

Journalist David Go asked Evers about the memo this week.

Asked about Republicans saying he was encouraging state employees to violate federal law, Evers said:

“I say that’s baloney. ICE can do what ICE wants to do,” Evers told Go. “All the thing thing I want is if they come to a place of work, the employee who wants to be talked to by ICE should bring their attorney there, or their immediate supervisor. We’re not saying ICE can’t operate. All I want is people to understand, state employees are going to work, state employees are doing good work, and we’re asking our attorneys that work in every agency to be with them, simple as that.”

“The only thing I want is our employees if they are at work that they have somebody with legal experience being with them. It’s quite simple. And for the Republicans to go crazy on this is just absolutely ridiculous. They just want to make a thing,” Evers said.
