Rebecca Cooke “proudly touted an endorsement from AFSCME, a union that sued the Trump Administration over efforts to keep illegal aliens from obtaining CDLs,” according to the campaign of Congressman Derrick Van Orden, the former Navy SEAL intelligence chief who is running for re-election in Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district.
Cooke, who formerly worked for Minocqua Brewing’s Kirk Bangstad, has a long career as a leftist political operative and fundraiser. She also ran a mercantile store that closed and occasionally works as a waitress.
“AFSCME has also published a toolkit advising illegal aliens on how to evade U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” added Van Orden’s campaign.
“Rebecca Cooke and her radical allies are pushing policies that would make Wisconsin’s Third District a magnet for illegal aliens. Cooke has made it clear that putting Wisconsin families first is not a priority, and never has been,” said Grace Kim, Campaign spokeswoman for Van Orden.
Van Orden’s campaign listed the following under what Van Orden described as “Cooke’s Weak Immigration Record.”
- “Endorsed Socialist Zohran Mamdani who signed an executive order to expand dangerous sanctuary city policies.
- Called to DEFUND law enforcement.
- Called immigration enforcement “disgusting and wrong.”
- Campaigned with the architect of Democrats’ sanctuary city policies.
- Campaigned AGAINST Wisconsin’s voter ID amendment to ensure only Americans can vote in Wisconsin elections.
- Refuses to answer if criminal illegal aliens should be deported.”
