GoFundMe Set Up to Help City of Oconomowoc Police Officer’s Family After Son’s Tragic Death

Wesson Germanis

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family of City of Oconomowoc Police Officer Adam Germanis, whose 3-year-old son Wesson Germanis just died in a tragic farm accident. Local officers, who told Wisconsin Right Now about the fundraiser, say that Officer Germanis and his wife would help anyone in need, so they are hoping the community will pay it forward to help them.

“Please consider donating to the Germanis family as they mourn the unexpected loss of their son, Wesson,” the GoFundMe page, which had raised more than $24,000 as of April 16, 2023, says.

“Adam is like a brother, Katrina like a sister and the boys are like my own!” City of Oconomowoc Police Officer Rocco Bartolotta told Wisconsin Right Now. “Adam is the type of guy that would give his shirt off his back in negative Wisconsin weather. The Germanis family is grieving the loss of the baby boy, and we hope that everyone can help support them in their time of need.”

“Adam and Katrina are the type of people who, when asked for help, don’t think twice and are there doing what was asked,” added Town of Oconomowoc Police Officer Andy Preisler, to Wisconsin Right Now. “Adam goes to work everyday and helps the community in that same way never asking for anything in return. When terrible tragedy struck his family, i think it would be great for us to pay it forward in the way Adam and Katrina would. They need the love and support of everyone right now to get through every parents worst nightmare.”

Wesson was remembered in the GoFundMe page for his love of dinosaurs.

“Wesson loved playing with his older brother- Ope, playing with dinosaurs, and helping dad with chores on the tractor. Wesson was expecting the new arrival of his baby sister in August, who he was wanting to teach all the dinosaur names to,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“Money donated will help cover left over funeral/memorial costs and any costs from time off work, etc. As a family who would drop anything for anyone, any help or donation is appreciated – no matter what it may be,” the GoFundMe page says.

Sam Mosher, Janoah Bartolotta, and Katelyn Vaughan are the people who organized the GoFundMe.

A woman who donated wrote on the GoFundMe page, “I so appreciate the service Officer Germanis has shown our community. I am so sorry for this loss and tragedy. Prayers to your whole family.”

A woman who knew the family wrote on Facebook, “My heart shatters for our friends and the tragic accident they had with their son yesterday! Wesson was a fun energetic boy that made everyone smile when you saw him. He is truly going to be missed. Hug your littles tight and tell them you love them. Please consider donating to help the family with funeral costs. If you are not able to help prayers for them to help their healing.”
