A prominent liberal activist is crowing that electing leftist Alicia Halvensleben mayor of Waukesha would send a message to conservatives going into November. She is trying to paint the Waukesha mayor’s race as a canary in the mine for the November election and “for the country.”
The conservative candidate in the Waukesha mayor’s race is Republican state Rep. Scott Allen. He has been endorsed by top Waukesha County officials like District Attorney Lesli Boese and County Executive Paul Farrow.
The leftist candidate is Alicia Halvensleben, who touts going to a No Kings protest and endorsements from Democrats. She has trashed the Republican Party, MAGA, and President Trump.
Democrats are eager for her to establish a beachhead for the left in Waukesha County.
“Everyone thinks they know Waukesha, Wisconsin. They’re wrong,” crowed liberal activist and radio host Kristin Lyerly. “This mayor’s race in the heart of the WOW counties could be the first real referendum on MAGA heading into November. Watch closely.” She then shared a video showing far left candidate Alicia Halvensleben.”
Lyerly is a failed congressional candidate for Democrats who touts on LinkedIn that she was a plaintiff who “restored abortion access in Wisconsin.”
Halvensleben agreed in the video clip that Lyerly posted, claiming that the election is a canary in the mine against the Republican Party.
Scott Allen, the conservative candidate in the Waukesha mayor’s race, is a Republican state rep. “Scott has always believed in the power of working together. From his service on the Waukesha Common Council, the Civic Theatre board, and the County Block Grant board, to his current role in the State Assembly — his leadership has always been grounded in building partnerships, listening to others, and serving the community through cooperation,” he says on his page.
