Rep. Robyn Vining “has repeatedly voted against legislation that would have lowered taxes for Wisconsin families, retirees, married couples, and small businesses,” her opponent, Mike Roberts, says.
“Wisconsin families are already paying too much. As your state senator, I’ll fight to lower taxes and let you keep more of what you earn,” added Roberts, a moderate Republican and doctor.
Roberts and Vining, a liberal, are running for a state Senate seat vacated by Republican Rob Hutton. The district spans parts of Milwaukee and Waukesha counties (including Wauwatosa, West Allis, Brookfield, Elm Grove, and Pewaukee).
Robyn Vining’s Anti Tax Relief Votes
1. 2019 AB 4: Voted against a middle-class income-tax cut.
2. 2021 AB 191: Voted against eliminating Wisconsin’s personal-property tax on businesses.
3. 2023–25 state budget: Voted against the budget, which included $3.5 billion in proposed income-tax reductions.
4. 2023 AB 1020: Voted against expanding the middle-income tax bracket.
5. 2023 AB 1021: Voted against expanding the retirement-income tax subtraction.
6. 2023 AB 1022: Voted against increasing the married-couple tax credit.
7. 2026 Special Session AB 1: Voted against the bipartisan surplus package negotiated by Governor Evers and Republican legislative leaders. It would have provided taxpayer rebates, increased school aid intended to reduce property taxes, and eliminated state income taxes on qualified tips and overtime.

“Wisconsin taxpayers deserve relief and not another excuse for keeping their money in Madison,” added Roberts.
