The USA Men’s Hockey Team Are Heroes, But Liberals Can’t Stop Raging

The players for Team USA men’s hockey are American heroes. These young Americans, with their gap-toothed smiles and American flags, are exactly what America needs right now. A strong dose of patriotism.

The news has been filled with so much negativity lately, from angry, privileged middle-aged women blowing whistles in the faces of law enforcement agents to New York police officers being pelted with ice-crusted snowballs. The men’s hockey team should be something we can all unite around, but, no, liberals just couldn’t help themselves. They couldn’t set aside their anger for even one day. They just couldn’t do it.

Wisconsin Democratic governor candidate David Crowley’s first instinct was to trash the team over a President Donald Trump joke. “Everyone laughed,” he raged, which made it clear he wasn’t just bashing the president – he was also bashing the team. Crowley apparently believes everyone in the viral Team USA/Trump video is a raging sexist against women; one wonders whether he can even define one? The media and Democrats raged about FBI Director Kash Patel expressing excitement over the great American victory. The horrors. How dare a top U.S. official support a great American team? A USA Today columnist sniped that the men’s hockey players “utterly failed to meet the cultural moment.”

Wrong. They met the cultural moment exactly. Whether it was singing along to Lee Greenwood at a Florida nightclub or expressing pride in being an American, these young men have gotten it exactly right. “These guys are reminding kids all across the nation that it’s okay to be unapologetically patriotic,” one X user wrote.

Get over it, liberals. You’ve lost the plot. Are you angry about EVERYTHING?

It’s fitting that the last time the US men’s hockey team won gold was 1980, defeating the Soviets in the “Miracle on Ice.” The 2026 victory echoed the ’80s, a period of American exceptionalism and pride.

It’s unconscionable that liberals are now directing their relentless hate and anger at these courageous young men, who represent everything America is supposed to stand for: Grit, hard work, the American dream, excellence, brotherhood, family. There are no participation trophies in men’s hockey. You might get your teeth bashed in, but you get back up and score the gold-medal winning goal.

Here at Wisconsin Right Now, we applaud the men’s team. We stand by them. They are the role models that America so desperately needs right now. They haven’t missed a step. (The women’s team deserves applause for its athletic achievements also; that team missed an opportunity to rise above the cacophony of negativity and attend the state of the union, putting country first.)

“Everyone’s giving us backlash for all the social media stuff today, but people are so negative out there and they are just trying to find a reason to put people down and make something out of almost nothing,” hockey star Jack Hughes said. He’s the guy whose teeth were bashed in.

He added, “People are so negative about things. I think everyone in that locker room knows how much we support them [the women’s team], how proud we are of them, and we know the same way we feel about them, they feel about us.”

“Yeah, we’re excited. Everything is so political. We’re athletes. We’re so proud to represent the U.S. and when you get the chance to go to White House and meet the president, we’re proud to be Americans and that’s so patriotic. No matter what your views are, we’re super excited to go to the White House tomorrow and be a part of that,” Hughes said.

Yes, these young men have met the cultural moment – exactly.

Port Washington Passes Bill to Give Public Say in Data Center TID Approvals

(The Center Square) – The city of Port Washington approved a referendum Tuesday that would require future projects worth more than $10 million to be approved by taxpayers before being added to a tax increment district.

The initiative, in response to a large-scale AI data center in the city, passed with 2,710 votes of approval compared to 1,371 in opposition. More than 50% of the 8,257 registered Port Washington voters voted in the election.

The initiative came in response to an $8 billion data center project that is expected to receive more than $450 million in property tax breaks along with not paying state sales tax on everything from construction to the servers inside to electricity at the site, which is estimated to require as much electricity as the city of Los Angeles once fully operational.

“Tonight, democracy worked the way it’s supposed to,” said Great Lakes Neighbors Incorporated member Christine Le Jeune in a statement. “Over 1,000 residents signed the petition that put this measure on the ballot, and tonight Port Washington voters spoke with one clear voice. The people deserve a seat at the table when their tax dollars are on the line.”

Data centers have shown to be unpopular with voters as 69% of Wisconsin voters in a recent Marquette poll said that they believe that the cost of data centers outweigh the benefits.

Republican candidate for governor and Congressman Tom Tiffany vowed to “end subsidies for data centers in Wisconsin” if he becomes governor.

Wisconsin comedian Charlie Berens has also been outspoken about the secrecy and impact of data centers, especially the Port Washington project and process. Berens testified in support of a bill to block non-disclosure agreements at data centers that did not pass the Legislature before session closed.

Le Jeune and two others from Great Lakes Neighbors United were removed from a public meeting on the Port Washington project in December by police when, after her allotted three minutes to speak in public comment, she shouted “shame” and “recall” as she headed to her seat.

Video from the meeting then showed a police officer approaching Le Jeune in the audience and asking her to leave.

Le Jeune would not leave and then a second officer approached and then began pulling on her arms to remove her from the meeting. Le Jeune and two others were then taken to the floor in the meeting room and handcuffed before being removed from the building.
