The Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office has charged Julian Camilo Forero-Vargas, an illegal immigrant who is accused of choking a woman. He also announced that Forero-Vargas fell under ICE detainer provisions.
It’s worth noting that Democrat candidates for governor have all opposed ICE detainers for illegal immigrants, even violent criminals – Sara Rodriguez, David Crowley, Francesca Hong, and Kelda Roys. Mandela Barnes said he would support them for the most serious criminals, but he generally opposes them as well. Roys and Hong want to abolish ICE completely, even though the agency facilitates getting violent illegal immigrant criminals out of the country.
Republican Tom Tiffany supports detaining and deporting violent illegal criminals.

According to Kenosha County DA Xavier Solis, the criminal complaint “states a serious domestic violence incident where the victim was on the floor while the defendant was on top of her choking her with both hands, slapped and punched her in the face, prevented her from calling 911, and struggled with her while she was holding a child.”
“The defendant, a Colombian illegal alien, is now in ICE custody. He is subject to the detainer provision of the Laken Riley Act and was required to be effectively and expeditiously taken into custody by the Department of Homeland Security pursuant to 8 U.S.C. § 1226(c)(3),” Solis added. “Thank you to the paralegals of the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office for their work to ensure this illegal alien was taken into custody.”
Statement from District Attorney Xavier Solis:
“This is another illegal alien who came into our country illegally under Democrat leadership and is now accused of committing crimes in our community. These are not the immigrants we want in Kenosha County. We welcome lawful immigrants who follow the law, respect our country, and contribute to our community. But illegal aliens who come here, break our laws, and hurt our families must be arrested and removed. My office will continue working with our law enforcement partners, including ICE, to keep Kenosha County safe.”
The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court, Solis noted.
