Wisconsin’s Mark Pocan Votes Against Deporting Illegal Immigrant Rapists

Mark Pocan

Wisconsin Democrats Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore voted against a bill that calls for the deportation of illegal immigrants who are convicted of sex crimes, the U.S. House roll call vote confirms.

According to its author, Nancy Mace, “H.R. 7909 aims to protect women and girls by ensuring illegal aliens convicted of sex offenses or domestic violence, or those who admit to such crimes, are deemed inadmissible to the U.S. It also called for the deportation of those convicted of a sex offense or conspiracy to commit such an offense.”

Mace told Newsweek, “158 Left-wing members of Congress just voted against deporting rapists, pedophiles and murderers of women and kids.” That includes Pocan and Moore of Wisconsin. According to Newsweek, “Opponents of the bill said it was demonizing immigrants.”

The act was called the “Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act.” It passed on a vote of 266 to 158, with seven members not voting. Fifty-one Democrats joined all Republicans in voting for the bill’s passage.

But not the two from Wisconsin.

The roll call vote confirms that Democrats Pocan and Moore voted “nay.”

Voting yes: Bryan Steil, Tom Tiffany, Derrick Van Orden, Scott Fitzgerald, and Glenn Grothman, all Republicans.

The bill was proposed by Republican Rep. Nancy Mace. The bill now heads to the Senate.

According to Newsweek, the bill would “deport or deem inadmissible to the country undocumented immigrants who have been convicted of, or admit to having committed, sex offenses, domestic violence, stalking, child abuse or violating a protection order.”

“Today, we took a decisive step to protect women by passing the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act,” said Representative Nancy Mace. “We are fed up with headlines about women losing their lives or becoming victims of assailants who trespassed into our country illegally under the Biden-Harris border crisis. This legislation sends a strong message: if you are an illegal who has committed acts of violence against women, you will not find sanctuary here.”

“The Biden-Harris border crisis has made daily life less safe for American women. They engineered this crisis, ignored efforts to solve it, and have refused to deport those who commit heinous crimes against American citizens,” said Speaker Johnson. “As crime by illegal aliens continues to rise, I commend Rep. Mace’s proactive leadership in ensuring the rule of law is followed. H.R. 7909 will keep America safe since the Biden-Harris Administration will not.”
