Roger Roth Will Report Raising at Least $380,000 in 8th Congressional District 1st Quarter

-

8th Congressional District candidate Roger Roth will report raising at least $380,000 in his first-quarter campaign finance filing, Wisconsin Right Now has learned.

The report, due April 15, covers contributions on hand by the close of the quarter, which is March 31. Roth has only been raising money since Feb. 21, his campaign told WRN.

Roth, a Republican, homebuilder, and military veteran who ran for lieutenant governor and served as a state Senator, is seeking to fill the seat that will be vacated by Mike Gallagher. State Sen. André Jacque is the other declared candidate in the race.

Roth’s campaign told Wisconsin Right Now that, compared to previous election years in WI-08, Roth “raised more than Gallagher raised in any quarter in 2022 or 2020.”

Roth’s campaign told WRN that the $380,000 total does not include money from Roth himself and consists of donations from around 350 people, about 80% of whom are from Wisconsin. The tally includes a donation from Mike Pompeo’s PAC, the campaign said.

“I am humbled by the overwhelming support I am receiving from across the district. All across Northeast Wisconsin, voters are joining our team and investing in the fight. We are just getting started, but our coalition is growing every day,” Roth said in a statement to WRN.

“I took an oath when I joined the military 20 years ago to serve and protect this country. I view this mission through that same lens. I believe America is the greatest country in the history of the world, but we must protect it,” he added. “If we want to save America, we must tackle our challenges head on. We must secure the border, end Biden’s reckless spending, and keep America safe by bringing our foreign adversaries to their knees. We cannot hesitate and make excuses.”

Added Roth: “Winning this seat cannot be the only goal. We must win the 8th to preserve the House majority, but we must also drive up every vote in Northeast Wisconsin to deliver the state of Wisconsin for President Trump. We must get America back on track.”

Roth had a presence at the Trump rally in Green Bay on April 2. In addition to signs, he was spotted walking down the very long line of people waiting to get into the rally in the sleet and was spotted shaking hands all the way down the line, which snaked over a bridge.

Roth’s uncle, Toby Roth, held the congressional seat from 1979 to 1997. Roger Roth is an Air National Guard veteran who served his country in multiple tours in Iraq.

“I’m proud to support @realDonaldTrump as we reclaim the White House. We have seen what failure looks like and the first step is getting our economy back on track, securing peace and prosperity means defeating Joe Biden and the Democrats. As goes NE WI, so does the state,” Roth wrote previously.

He added, “As a lifelong resident of Northeast Wisconsin, I am ready to fight back against President Joe Biden’s dangerous open border, disastrous economy, and weak foreign policy that has put Americans at risk, both at home and abroad.”
