Town of Erin, WI – Former law enforcement officer Jim Piwowarczyk filed over 300 signatures to secure access to the 98th Assembly District ballot on Thursday, as momentum grows behind the conservative news publisher in the Washington and Waukesha County race.
“I am really thankful for the positive and enthusiastic reception that my candidacy has received,” Piwowarczyk said. “I have knocked on more than 2,000 doors in the district, and I have enjoyed meeting voters and hearing their concerns. Voters are deeply concerned about the state of the economy and the border crisis, especially, and I would enjoy fighting hard to tackle those concerns and more in the state Legislature.”
Piwowarczyk, 53, a Republican who supports President Donald Trump, has been endorsed by top leaders in Washington and Waukesha Counties, where the district lies. He is the only candidate in the race to submit enough signatures to get on the ballot in the newly drawn 98th so far, which includes the City and Town of Hartford, Erin, Richfield, Merton, Sussex, and Lisbon. Records confirm that Piwowarczyk submitted 319 valid signatures. 200 are needed to appear on the primary ballot Aug. 13.
The major local endorsements in the race have all gone to Piwowarczyk. Piwowarczyk, who lives in the Town of Erin with his family, has been endorsed by Washington County Sheriff Martin Schulteis, Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson, Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann, Washington County DA Mark Bensen, Washington County Treasurer/Former Hartford Mayor Scott Henke, former Republican Attorney General candidate Eric Toney, Reps. Barb Dittrich (R-Oconomowoc) and Bob Donovan (R-Greenfield) as well as state Sen. Dan Knodl (R-Germantown) and conservative businessman Will Martin.
Piwowarczyk, the co-editor of the popular, award-winning conservative news site Wisconsin Right Now and a real estate broker, served as a police officer for almost 20 years in Glendale and Kewaskum, where he was a sergeant.
“I am incredibly appreciative of the groundswell of support for my candidacy,” Piwowarczyk said. “I will work very hard to make sure voters’ concerns are represented and heard.”
