Sawyer County GOP Chair John Righeimer is endorsing businessman Kevin Hermening for Congress in the 7th Congressional District. This is significant because Sawyer County is the home base of Hermening’s opponent Michael Alfonso, 26, who lives in Sean and Rachel Duffy’s Hayward home, per his voter registration.
“I’m supporting Kevin Hermening for Congress, and for me, the choice is easy,” Righeimer wrote. “Kevin isn’t running to become somebody. He’s running to do something. He’s a former Marine, a survivor of the Iran hostage crisis, a successful small business owner, a former county GOP chairman, and a former school board member. He’s spent a lifetime serving his country, his community, and his neighbors.”
Added Righeimer: “What sets Kevin apart is that he’s the real deal. No entourage. No drama. No political celebrity act. Just a hardworking, grassroots conservative who shows up, listens, and gets the job done. I’ve always believed the office should never be bigger than the person who holds it. Kevin Hermening is bigger than the office.”
He continued, “That’s the kind of character, experience, and leadership we need representing Wisconsin’s 7th District in Congress. I’m proud to support Kevin Hermening for Congress, and I hope you’ll take a serious look at his candidacy as well.”
Republican state Sen. Romaine Quinn chimed in on Righeimer’s comment thread, writing, “I support President Trump. I believe the candidate who is the most qualified and most ready to enact the Presidents agenda on day 1 is Kevin Hermening.”
Although we are using his title because he holds it – and it outlines the significance – Righeimer stressed that he was endorsing Alfonso in his personal capacity and as a three-term County Board supervisor and Sawyer County resident.
